2007 Course Description

SWIM-.5K (500 meters/547 yards)

Beginning at 8:00 am Waves of Ten participants will start every 40 minutes in Bonneville Hot Springs and Resort's luxurious indoor 82 degree pool. For the record, wetsuits will NOT BE PERMITTED. There will be two participants per lane.  To fulfill the .5k required swim leg the participant must complete 22 lengths (500 meters = 547 yards/ at 25 yards per length, 500 meters = 22 lengths). After exiting the pool the athletes will WALK as quickly as possible to their transition area (gear, clothing, shoes, etc...waiting for them) and begin their bike segment of the race.

BIKE 15K (9.3 miles)

The athlete’s personal bike will already be set up on the trainers as they arrive. Athletes are on the clock as they (change and if necessary and) begin riding to reach the 15K completion point.  Upon completion the participant must shout out “Finished” getting the attention of a course official and begin their run. If the rider’s odometer does not concur with the minimum 15K distance they will be required to return to their bike to complete the segment.  The trainers used for this year’s event will be The Elite Wireless Fluid Primo ElastoGel Trainer.  After much research no expense was spared in acquiring this unit.  It is a wireless trainer that delivers exceptional resistance for a vigorous workout.  It is designed to apply the appropriate pressure on the back wheel based on the rider's weight to deliver progressive resistance to the bike.  It brings a true road like feel indoors without all the cables.  The wireless digital transmitter will accurately record and display speed (current, average, max) and watts (current, average and max).

Run 5K (3.1 miles)

At this point in the event we felt it best for the participant to stage the run portion of the race outside.  Taking full advantage of the scenic beauty of the Gorge the runners will complete the race by running a 5k around the surrounding area of The Bonneville Hot springs.  It is flast and fast.
